2nd Conference on Neglected Vectors and Vector-Borne Diseases (EurNegVec): with MC and WG Meeting of the COST Action TD1303

The Organizing Committee welcomes abstract submissions on the Working Groups (WG) topics that are listed below::

WG1: The "One Health" concept in the ecology of vector-borne diseases
WG2: Barcoding, molecular diagnosis and next generation sequencing
WG3: Geospatial tools in vector research
WG4: Phylogenetics and phylogeography of vectors and vector-borne pathogens
WG5: Rare and emerging vector-borne pathogens

In the registration form, the applicant must specify the type of communication (oral or poster).

All eligible and accepted abstracts will be published in a supplement of Parasites & Vectors (according to the option of the authors in the registration form).

Abstracts should be written according to the instructions below and will be reviewed by the scientific committee for acceptance, based on their scientific content. Abstracts must be submitted together with the registration form (as separate attachements) via email (amihalca@usamvcluj.ro). Do not fax, mail or email your abstract(s) to another address as they will not be considered.

One participant can submitt maximum 2 abstracts, of which maximum one can be oral presentation.

Abstract Submission Deadline: December 21, 2014.

Authors will be informed by 10 January 2015 whether their abstract can be accepted in principle (with or without revision). The final decision, based on the revised abstract will be announced on 25.01.2015. Check our deadlines section for more details.

For each accepted abstract, only one of the authors is eligible to reimbursement for participation. For more details, please check our reimbursement rules.

File naming: nameofthepresentingauthor_number_type.doc. Example: smith_1_poster.doc, smith_2_oral.doc


- all abstracts must be submitted in English, as a *.doc or *.docx file (pdf not accepted)

- use Times New Roman 12, left allignement for all lines (including tile, authors, affiliation, text)

- title should be typed in BOLD CAPITAL LETTERS.

- authors format: full name followed by the initials of the first and middle name. All authors separated by commas. Ex: Smith J.H., Johnson W., McGregor I.K.

- presenting author’s name (the applicant) should be underlined and bold.

- the affiliations of all authors should be included in the abstract, using consecutive numbers in superscript. The format of the affiliation must be: Department, Institution, City, Country

- presenting author must also be the corresponding author. So provide an email address in the line following affiliations example: email: smithjh@email.com

- please use the following page settings: A4, all margins 2 cm

- please use the following paragraph settings: 1.5 lines, no indentation, 0 before and 0 after spacing.

- do not include in your abstracts: figures, tables, graphs, charts, diagrams etc

- do not include references in your abstracts

- if necessary, include "Funding" as a separate line, at the end of the abstract. It is not necessary to include the COST Action here. Include only your Research Grants.

- abstract MUST be between 250 and 400 words. DO NOT include subtitles. However, research abstracts should generally include in the main text statements regarding the aims, materials, methods, results and conclusions.

- always submit your abstract when it is FINAL. Do not submit corrected versions, as they will not be considered and they make our work more complicated.

- if submitting more than one abstract, please send them together, in the same email, as separate files.
